SUMMARY:Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Collection
DESCRIPTION:Get involved in the Christmas season this year in a truly impactful way through Operation Christmas Child! OCC’s mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys\, hygiene items\, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. They ship each shoebox outside the United States to children affected by war\, poverty\, natural disaster\, famine\, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S. It’s an incredible thing to be a part of! \nLike every year\, we’ll be distributing and collecting packed shoeboxes to be used in OCC’s mission. It’s a fun thing to do with friends or family. You could even host a shoebox packing night at your house! Check below for distribution and collection dates. \nThe church is distributing empty OCC shoeboxes: October 2nd\, 9th\, 16th & 23rd. \nPlease return your packed OCC shoeboxes to the church as soon as possible: Any Sunday (Or 9am-5pm\, Mon-Thu) until Nov 27th. \nClick here to see instructions on how to pack a shoebox. SUMMARY:Operation Santa Claus Toy Drive
DESCRIPTION:Be a part of the Christmas season in a special way this year by donating toys to those in need! Operation Santa Claus (OSC) is a year-round program that focuses on holiday and special occasion gifts to children of Orange County’s neediest families enrolled in Social Services\,  Agency programs and partner County agencies. With generous support from the community\, OSC provided 19\,000 toys and gifts last year to children placed in foster care and those in low-income families. \nSee  below for instructions and information. DESCRIPTION:Join us as we volunteer at the Southern California processing center for Operation Christmas Child on Monday\, December 5th! We will be carefully inspecting Christmas shoeboxes\, packing them and preparing them for their overseas shipment. \nContact Pastor Nate here to get involved or sign up at the outreach table on the patio on Sunday! \n  \n\nInstructions & Information\nOur shift will be from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Our goal is to arrive at the processing center early so that there’s time for everyone to check-in. This means we will be meeting at the church at 5:00pm and leaving shortly thereafter. If you can’t make it to the church on time and would like to meet us there\, this is okay as long as you are at the processing center no later than 6:45pm. \nPlease read below. These are important things for you to be aware of for our visit to the OCC Processing Center. If you have any questions or concerns\, please reach out to me. Thanks so much for wanting to volunteer! \n– Nate | nate@ccpacifichills.org \n  \n\nTASKS\nWe will be responsible for removing financial contributions from the shoeboxes\, inspecting the gifts\, sorting inappropriate items\, working with filler items\, separating boxes by age and gender\, and boxing shoeboxes in designated cartons. Due to the fast-paced environment of the warehouse and changing needs\, you may be asked to do different tasks. Please be flexible. \nAGE\nDue to the warehouse environment\, all volunteers must be at least 13 years of age\, regardless of a student’s grade level. \nWHAT TO WEAR\nIt is best to be prepared with closed-toe shoes appropriate for standing for long periods\, and warm\, layered\, casual clothes as the temperature inside can vary. Breaks are available as needed. \nFOOD\nA break area in the processing center has vending machines and space to store your meals and snacks. Ice is not provided; however\, you may bring your own coolers. All food and drinks must remain inside the break area. Please be advised that tobacco products are prohibited on the property. \n\n\nCARPOOLING\nPastor Nate will have room in the church SUV for about six people. We will need others to use their vehicle for carpooling if there should be more than that leaving from the church. Please contact Nate if you would like to use your vehicle in this way. \nPLEASE NOTE\nBags and coolers are subject to being searched. Headphones are not permitted in the processing center. SUMMARY:Christmas Caroling At Whispering Fountains
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Monday\, December 12th as we sing Christmas Carols at the Whispering Fountains senior living center in Laguna Woods! We will meet at the church at 11:00am and carpool to the Stater Bros. parking lot and walk up to Whispering Fountains. It’s about a ten minute walk. We will joyfully sing for the residents for about 45 minutes and pass out Christmas cookies during their special Christmas event. We will begin singing at 11:30am.  \nNo singing experience is required! Trained singers and shower singers are all welcome alike. Pastor Nate has created a PDF with all the lyrics as well as MP3’s of him singing all 20 carols so that you can practice at home. The link to access these files is below. They are traditional Christmas songs that you are most likely familiar with. He will also have print-outs of all the lyrics at the event. Pick up a backpack from the church\, fill it with some much needed items for the homeless and return it to the church by Sunday\, December 11th. Suggested packing lists are provided inside each backpacks\, but the packing lists are also posted below for convenience. \nBackpack Pick-up Dates: Nov 6th\, 13th\, 20th\, 27th\nDrop-off your packed backpack(s) until Sunday\, Dec 11th \n(Can be dropped off Sundays during services or M-Th 9am-5pm at the front desk).\n  \nHelp With The Delivery!\nYou can also join us in distributing all 120 filled backpacks to the Mental Health Association of Orange County in Santa Ana! MHA is a non-profit\, Orange County\, CA based social services organization. Their Homeless Multi-Service Center is open Monday-Friday\, including holidays\, 6:30am – 4:30pm serving meals\, providing showers\, laundry\, access to county mental health clinics and much more. We will be meeting at the church at 7:00am to load the backpacks and then carpooling to MHA to set up tables in their parking lot to distribute the backpacks. We will also be giving out holiday cookies along with the packs. This event should go no later than 1:00pm. Breakfast will be provided at the church.
