DESCRIPTION:Join us as we volunteer at the Southern California processing center for Operation Christmas Child on Tuesday\, Dec 8th! We will be carefully inspecting Christmas shoeboxes\, packing them and preparing them for their overseas shipment. \nThis event is no longer taking registrations\, sorry. Please visit the event page for Dec 9th here.\n  \n\nInstructions & Information\nOur shift will be from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. My goal is to arrive at the processing center about 15min early so that there’s time for everyone to check-in. This means we will be meeting at the church at 5:30pm and leaving shortly thereafter. If you can’t make it to the church on time and would like to meet us there\, this is okay as long as you are at the processing center by 6:45pm. \nPlease read below. These are important things for you to be aware of for our visit to the OCC Processing Center. If you have any questions or concerns\, please reach out to me. Thanks so much for wanting to volunteer! \n– Nate | nate@ccpacifichills.org \n  \n\nTASKS\nWe will be responsible for removing financial contributions from the shoeboxes\, inspecting the gifts\, sorting inappropriate items\, working with filler items\, separating boxes by age and gender\, and boxing shoeboxes in designated cartons. Due to the fast-paced environment of the warehouse and changing needs\, you may be asked to do different tasks. Please be flexible. \nAGE\nDue to the warehouse environment\, all volunteers must be at least 13 years of age\, regardless of a student’s grade level. \nWHAT TO WEAR\nIt is best to be prepared with closed-toe shoes appropriate for standing for long periods\, and warm\, layered\, casual clothes as the temperature inside can vary. Breaks are available as needed. \nFOOD\nA break area in the processing center has vending machines and space to store your meals and snacks. Ice is not provided; however\, you may bring your own coolers. All food and drinks must remain inside the break area. Please be advised that tobacco products are prohibited on the property. \n\n\nCARPOOLING\nPastor Nate will have room in the church SUV for about six people. We will need others to use their vehicle for carpooling if there should be more than that leaving from the church. Please contact Nate if you would like to use your vehicle in this way. \nPLEASE NOTE\nBags and coolers are subject to being searched. Headphones are not permitted in the processing center. SUMMARY:Friendship Shelter Christmas Outreach
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Sunday\, December 20th at the church to prepare Christmas meals for the Friendship Shelter in Laguna Beach! The Friendship Shelter is residential shelter for homeless adults and works with its residents to secure housing and employment or other income. This is an amazing opportunity for individuals or the whole family to serve our community. We will meet at the church at 3:30pm to begin dinner prep. We will be assembling sandwich meals for the residents of the shelter. Pastor Nate will then deliver the meals to the shelter to be distributed that night. The meal prep time will last approximately an hour and a half. \nTo sign up\, please email Pastor Nate (nate@ccpacifichills.org) or call him at the church at (949) 362-7475 Ext. 27. Read below for additional details: \n\nTASKS: We will be preparing meals for approximately 25 residents of the Friendship shelter. Duties will be assigned the day of the event. Tasks could include things like slicing tomatoes\, putting sandwiches together or assembling the meal boxes. \nAGE: Children seven years of age or older are welcome to serve alongside their parents. \nWHAT TO WEAR: It is best to be prepared with closed-toe shoes appropriate for standing for long periods and clothing that you wouldn’t mind getting dirty. Breaks are available if needed. \nFOOD: All food that we will be preparing and serving will be provided by Calvary Chapel Pacific Hills.
