This year you may notice that what we are doing is a bit different. This is because, this is a year where we are being challenged to go “Beyond Ourselves”. That statement is meant to describe a mindset that Jesus lived and modeled. Jesus taught us to follow Him by serving others. It was also modeled by Him in many ways, but ultimately when He gave His life as a sacrifice for us. Going “Beyond Ourselves” is the theme for our winter service retreat. Each aspect of our service retreat is designed to draw students out of the everyday “self” that we tend to live within, and to follow Christ as He takes us to live beyond ourselves. One of the greatest ways that we can do this is through serving others. Our retreat will have us engaged in serving the city of San Diego through outreaches, serving meals, and giving supplies to the poor. Additionally, students faith will grow through Bible teachings, authentic questions, relationships, quiet times, small group discussions, and all of the fun we will have. We will be exploring all that San Diego offers as we head to the Gaslamp District, Coronado Island, Mission Bay and more!
Here at Pacific Hills, we believe strongly that experiences like these create moments in a students life when they will connect with God like never before. Believing this to be true, our church has gone to great lengths to plan and prepare the best weekend possible. This packet contains all of the information you will need including financial information. We believe that money should never be what keeps a student from going to camp. Therefore we work hard to provide scholarships for those in need. If you need assistance, we would love to help, but we do require that you contribute financially in whatever way you can afford. We will be having a bake sale to raise money for scholarships and offset the cost of transportation. This will be held on January 29. We ask that all students participate by bringing in goods and helping to sell them before and after the services on this Sunday.
